Learning this standard is a really good way to get into learning how to play with more of a straight 8ths feel, finding the appropriate clave to play under the soloist. Focus on the 16th notes in the brushes especially, recreating the sound of a shaker. Listen to the accent of the off beats and how that changes the weight of the on beat.

Listen to the emphasis on beats 2 and 4. The high notes are usually played on beats 1 and 3, and the lower notes are 2 and 4. Also pay attention to the length of the notes. (Short long, short long)
